| Microsoft has retired the free to use A1+ license and they have notified us that removal of the license from tenants globally has commenced from 02 September. We don't know when this work will happen for the University, but Microsoft will automatically replace the A1+ license with the A1 license, for any account they find that has it. Back in October 2024, we updated our group based Licensing service to start assigning the A1 license to (qualifying) accounts, instead of the A1+ license. There are however a large number of accounts that still have the A1+ license directly assigned to them. We plan to remove these directly assigned A1+ licenses and properly configure these accounts to obtain the required A1 license, via group based licensing. This work is planned for 06 Oct. 2025. | Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE) is now General Available and we plan to update our exchange servers to this version. The update was released as a cumulative update and the main feature update in this version, is the Support Model. The SE will be the only supported version of Exchange going forward, hence the need for us to run the update. Microsoft has released it as a simple patch which are normally deployed as a simple change. Timeline: The update should be installed before 14 October as that date is the next patch Tuesday, (when Microsoft releases security updates and patches for its software products, including Windows and Microsoft Office, to fix vulnerabilities and improve system security). | Low |

A simulated failure of mains electrical power will be carried out to ensure that the backup Uninterruptible Power Supplies, generator, and switching mechanisms are functioning correctly. The datacentre will run on backup power for three hours, allowing staff to monitor the performance of the generator. During the time of the test, staff from Estates, IT Infrastructure and the generator supplier will be onsite to monitor the systems involved, and back out in the event of any problem occurring. During the time on test, disruption to service would require a failure of both the generator and Uninterruptible Power Supply.
